Talking Architecture: Drawing the Line
William will be speaking at the State Library of NSW in November as part of Talking Architecture: Drawing the Line. He will be joined by Barbara Flynn, Angelo Candalepas and Ed Lippmann with the conversation moderated by Elizabeth Farrelly.
One of the architect’s defining skills has always been the ability to communicate three-dimensional ideas through drawing. This connection between hand, eye and mind was always thought to be critical to the creative process and to communication, yet drawing is no longer a required talent and AI is likely to intensify that loss. Will this change how we design our houses, streets and cities? Does an end to freehand drawing impoverish our shared spatial world?
