The layout of this all-white apartment in Bondi revolves around a pivoting table that swings from the kitchen, past the study and living room on to the dining area. With a mirrored glass top and steel structure, the 3-metre-long table is fulcrumed by a structural column that replaced an internal structural wall.
Expand ContentTo strengthen the impact of the view, the materials differ in levels of sheen and translucency, rather than colour, with white being the mainstay. The glossier materials, such as the floor and the table, bring the colours of the sky and water into the space. Seasonal and climatic changes dominate the feeling of the apartment, where the division between the inside and the outside is minimal. The bedroom, for example, has sliding screens made from blue translucent resin, enabling the view of Bondi beach to be appreciated from bed.
In line with the minimal aesthetic, the kitchen and living room appliances have been integrated into a long satin-lacquered ‘smart’ wall, while the bathroom provides a contrast to the white, in black honed granite.
