Portman Terraces comprises seven luxury terrace houses each with their own individual street address off Portman Street in Zetland. Designed as a modern-day Victorian terrace, these four-storey residences are an exemplar of vertical living, with direct lift access from a secure garage to all levels.
Expand ContentStriking curved brick blades modulate the front façades, where each terrace is discernible from the next yet cohesive as a row. Double-height windows on Portman Street bring light into the generous internal living spaces. Consideration of privacy is given to the rear façade, where walls are curved and angled in response to the surrounding buildings.
The external material palette of white-faced brick, granite and charcoal metalwork creates a visual link to the terraces of the new precinct. These durable materials, combined with passive design strategies, solar roof panels and low-flow fixtures ensure this highly sustainable development will only improve with age.
All terraces have an elevated ground floor with open plan living, two levels of bedrooms with ensuites, and a flexible top floor room opening to a landscaped roof terrace with an outdoor kitchen. The habitable spaces open to terraces, balconies or the street. These elements are linked by a top-lit contemporary stair that incorporates a large void and acts as a light shaft, carrying natural light through the core of the home.
Interiors are ordered and precisely detailed. With muted tones and texturally rich materials, they complement the sculpted architecture of this contemporary infill project.
