This two-storey extension to an historic family home was conceived as a contemporary landscape structure. It plays to a landscape palette established in earlier work. It is viewed as a single storey structure from the main house and as two-storeys from below.

Six metre high blades are angled to balance privacy and frame views. These monumental walls orchestrate a dramatic play of light and shade on both the facade and internal spaces. Shadows are carefully considered as part of the overall form.
Detailed as if it was a precious material, concrete runs throughout dissolving the barrier between inside and outside. This project continues to test new technologies, with concrete treated as a liquid and sculptural material. Full height sliding doors test the limits at these proportions.
